Holy Week Prayer Walk
Beginning at Corrawallen on Palm Sunday we will be walking to Newtowngore, pausing at set points along the way for a Bible reading and to say the Lord's prayer. Each day we will walk to another parish in the group finishing in Kinawley for our renewal of Baptism vows.

Exciting News
If you read the Scribe you will know that the Omagh Waterford Peace Choir will be coming to visit us on Maundy Thursday in Holy Week. This is a great opportunity for us to hear one of the best choirs in Ireland. Later in the year they are due to sing at the Waterfront in Belfast and the Oddessy. We will be holding this special service on Thursday of Holy week in Swanlinbar at 8 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity that we are unlikely to have again. We encourage all our parishioners to come along as well as any other folk who have not got their own service to go too. |
Grace Jars
As we continue in the season of Lent may we encourage you in your giving in the grace jars for Beryl Baker.
Each time you sit to have a meal, I would invite you, along with every participating home in our Parish Grouping, to place a coin in the jar and say a simple prayer for those less fortunate than ourselves. Please do try and remember this each meal as a note shoved in to make amends for forgotten coins and prayers really is not quite the same as regular giving and prayer. On Easter Sunday we will collect in all the offerings and give thanks to God in this grace giving.
May I take this opportunity to make one gentle request on behalf of all those who have to sort out the jar contents. Could you please only put Euro and Sterling currency in the jars. We are not intending to collect foreign currencies. Living on the border we already have two and that can at times be confusing enough! Thank you for your understanding.
Richard is planning to see Beryl in July in Paraguay. Next month he hopes to finally meet up with the rest of the SAMS team that he will be traveling with and gain a bit more information.

Sunday School Support for Edoh
With Paraguay and India very much in our parish news at the moment please don’t forget young Edoh who lives in Togo. The Christian charity Compassion enrich her life greatly through our Sunday School’s giving. Children (with parents help!) are asked to bring 50 cents each time they come to Sunday school to help us fulfil this commitment. As well as the financial support the Sunday school are great at writing letters and cards to Edoh. |
Congratulations
Congratulations to Mark Crawford (parishioner of St Paul's, Kinawley) who got engaged to Victoria Rollins from Cookstown on Friday 18th February 2011 at Balloch Castle Country Park, Loch Lomond, Scotland. Mark & Victoria are regular worshippers in Kinawley/Swanlinbar and we wish them God's richest blessing for the future. .

Pictured are the GFS following their recent enrolment service held in Newtowngore. It was a memorable service with a superbly acted drama on the Good Samaritan performed by girls. In a twist on the story we know so well the victim was a clown and the Samaritan a cowgirl! The GFS are in great shape and a fine reflection on the hard work of all the leaders through the year.

A Birthday to Remember!
Tommy Sherritt (Kildallon parish) celebrated his 99th Birthday with a fine party with his family and friends at the Castle Manor Nursing home. (middle photo below) Tommy was in great form and even managed to join in the dancing. The photo below right shows he is enjoying dancing with his daughter Valerie.

Time for a Smile!
What do You do All Day?
A man came home from work and found his children outside, still in their pyjamas, playing in the mud, with empty cereal boxes and chocolate wrappers thrown all around the front garden. The door of his wife's car was open, as was the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog. Stepping into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall.
In the front room the TV was blaring loudly and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.
In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, breakfast food piled high on the bench top, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.
He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife. Panic was setting in, had something serious happened.
He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door. As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys strewn over the floor. Unrolled toilet paper lay in a heap and toothpaste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.
As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pyjamas, reading a novel. She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went…
He looked at her bewildered and asked, 'What happened here today?'
She again smiled and answered, 'You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?'
'Yes,' was his incredulous reply.
She answered, 'Well, today I didn't do it.'
